Events

Come along and join us for an enjoyable day out, you do not have to be an expert. We are a friendly group with varying knowledge and interests. Everyone is welcome including non-members too. All Outings depart at 8.30 am from Colchester War Memorial outside the Castle Park and return to the Colchester War Memorial between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. Cars can be parked in Priory Street, on East Hill or in the High Street.

Please book your places in writing and send to; Mrs Carole Rogers, 121, Mile End Road, Colchester CO4 5DA or telephone your booking on 01206 853942, preferably two weeks before the Outing (although your booking may still be accepted up to the day before). You will need a packed lunch, a drink, suitable clothing and footwear and payment for the trip which will be taken on the coach, £10.00/£12.00 for adults & £5.00/£6.00 for school children (Cheques will be accepted).

Please note that for coach trips CNHS does not have ‘public liability’ insurance, so everyone who comes is responsible for their own safety when they are not in the coach. However, our leaders give guidance on the best routes for walks and point out any hazards likely to be encountered. In any case we normally keep together as a party.

On car trips we try to car-share in order to save costs and to help those who may not otherwise be able to go. Please let Dave Barnard (01206 825645) or Joe Firmin (01206 241389) know if you require a lift or would be willing to give a lift. We meet at the site at the time given, usually 10.00 a.m. Most people bring a packed lunch and stay till mid afternoon.

Unless otherwise stated all indoor meetings are held at the Cardinal Bourne Hall in Priory Street, Colchester and start at 8.00 pm. The Hall is situated at the East Hill end of Priory Street with car parking almost opposite by the Roman Wall. Remember there are special Events such as the AGM which start early. Don't get caught out!
